NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – DECEMBER 8, 2020

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!

As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

Layla by Colleen Hoover is a paranormal suspense with a bucket load of romance thrown in. This is a different offering from CoHo but if you were a fan of Verity it might be up your street.

Brambles by Intisar Khanani is a the prequel to Thorn (re-released last year). It’s a short read but brings a wider understanding to the whole premise of Thorn. It also whets the appetite for book 2 in the Dauntless Path series.

A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir is the fourth and final book in the Ember in the Ashes quartet! For those who fell behind in this series (not naming names, cough, Hollis..) this is a great time to dive into a binge.

How To Catch a Queen by Alyssa Cole is the first book in a new series, Runaway Royals, which seems to be a spinoff from her Reluctant Royals series. Which is about, you guessed it, royals!

Forever Wild by K.A. Tucker is a novella in Tucker’s Simple Wild universe which is already a bonus for fans. An extra bonus? It’s a holiday themed story!

Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre is about neighbouring couples with a focus on the women; one who has everything and the other who wants what she doesn’t have but is within her sight. It sounds like yet another dark twisty offering from this prolific author.

How The King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black is an illustrated addition to The Folk of the Air series which includes delicious details of life before The Cruel Prince, an adventure beyond The Queen of Nothing, and familiar moments from The Folk of the Air trilogy, told wholly from Cardan’s perspective.

Ready Player Two by Ernest Kline is the follow up to Ready Player One which one of us remembers enjoying but also forever confuses with Armada, so. Maybe a reread is needed? Either way, looking forward to this.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – OCTOBER 20, 2020

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!

As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

Plain Bad Heroines by Emily A. Danforth has been pitched as, “a story within a story within a story and featuring black-and-white period illustrations, Plain Bad Heroines is a devilishly haunting, modern masterwork of metafiction that manages to combine the ghostly sensibility of Sarah Waters with the dark imagination of Marisha Pessl and the sharp humor and incisive social commentary of Curtis Sittenfeld into one laugh-out-loud funny, spellbinding, and wonderfully luxuriant read.” Consider us intrigued!

Among the Beasts and Briars by Ashley Poston is a story we have no idea about. But it has a gorgeous cover and early reviews have thrown about UPROOTED and THE BONE HOUSES, two books we here at the blog loved.

The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult takes the themes of Egyptology and death weaving them into a heavy tale of two possibilities for the protagonist, Dawn.

My Heart Underwater by Laurel Flores Fantauzzo is a LGBTQ+ YA read set between the US and the Phillipines. This story has a number of tropes including a teacher-student connection. This is an own voices book and you should check some own voices reviews on this too.

The Winter Duke by Claire Eliza Bartlett is a another LGBTQ+ book but this time set in a YA fantasy world that felt rather fresh. Its full on magic and focuses on the premise that the family want to kill one another!

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – OCTOBER 13, 2020

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!

As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

BROTHERSONG by TJ Klune is the final book in the Green Creek series that so many have been (im)patiently awaiting. But it’s finally here! Packpackpack. Check out Hollis’ review.

THE ONCE AND FUTURE WITCHES by Alix E. Harrow is set in 1893, in New Salem, and it was this part of the summary that grabbed us, “Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote-and perhaps not even to live-the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive. There’s no such thing as witches. But there will be.”

BLACK SUN by Rebecca Roanhorse is a total cover-drew-me-in title and while the summary didn’t quite wow us, this bit? Intrigued. “Crafted with unforgettable characters, Rebecca Roanhorse has created an epic adventure exploring the decadence of power amidst the weight of history and the struggle of individuals swimming against the confines of society and their broken pasts in the most original series debut of the decade.”

THE DEEP BLUE BETWEEN by Ayesha Harruna Attah is a story of twins caught in a raid which dictates where their future goes. Told historically between West Africa and Brazil.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – OCTOBER 6, 2020

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!

As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE by V.E. Schwab is a story about a young woman, the Devil, and a desperate bargain that leaves her forgotten by the world. But today her story is finally told.

IN A HOLIDAZE by Christina Lauren is a Groundhog Day-style holiday story. And today you can live this day and the swoons over and over.

THE LIVES OF SAINTS by Leigh Bardugo is a book pulled from the pages of her Grishaverse series and features drawn illustrations alongside the tales of miracles and martyrdom. If it’s anything like her LANGUAGE OF THORNS release, this is going to be stunning.

THE TOWER OF NERO by Rick Riordan is the fifth and final book in the Trials of Apollo series.. but also the final in the Half-Blood Chronicles and we just don’t know what to do with that information.

SPOILER ALERT by Olivia Dade is a “delightfully fun romantic comedy set in the world of fanfiction, in which a devoted fan goes on an unexpected date with her celebrity crush, who’s secretly posting fanfiction of his own.” Sounds full of delicious tropes and have you seen that cover? Stunning! This romcom is out in the world on October 6, 2020.

THE WOLF AND THE WATER by Josie Jaffrey is a greek mythological type of tale. 16 year old Kala, ostracised by her society because of a disability, finds secrets among her grief and seeks to find answers. This YA historical fantasy is out on October 8, 2020.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 29, 2020

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!

As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

The second in her Devil You Know series, ALL SCOT AND BOTHERED by Kerrigan Byrne most of us only need to see the name Byrne for us to say yes and please.

DEAR JUSTYCE by Nic Stone follows on from the brilliant DEAR MARTIN; Quan who we met in that book is incarcerated and begins to write to Justyce this time. This is highly anticipated for Micky!

A hugely anticipated title worthy of the buzz is A DEADLY EDUCATION by Naomi Novik which features prophecies, dark sorceresses, and more.

THE TOWER OF NERO by Rick Riordan is the fifth book, the finale, in the Trials of Apollo series, set within the main Percy Jackson world, which we honestly hope Riordan never stops writing about. This is likely to have all sorts of action and likely some feels, too.

We’re expecting to be all up in our emotions with ALL THIS TIME by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott. After their FIVE FEET APART, we know to brace. This story follows a young couple after traumatic brain injury…grab your tissues.

BREATHLESS by Jennifer Niven brings another coming of age YA story where the protagonist’s parents go through a break-up, changing everything for this young woman. It sounds very relatable!

THE RETURN by Nicholas Sparks is the story of an army surgeon recouperating from injuries at his family’s cabin and local life has some pull in lots of ways.
