NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – OCTOBER 15, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

THE NEVER TILTING WORLD by Rin Chupeco is pitched as, “Frozen meets Mad Max in this epic teen fantasy duology bursting with star-crossed romance, immortal heroines, and elemental magic” about a world split between day and night and the two sisters who must unite it. And if that doesn’t get you excited, what would? I’ve yet to read this author but very keen to do so.

THE ART OF THEFT by Sherry Thomas is the fourth book in the Lady Sherlock series and I cannot wait to reunite with Charlotte and Lord Ingram after the events of book three. This is a series that has definitely improved with each release and I’m so hoping that trend continues with this book.

JACKPOT by Nic Stone is a contemporary YA offering with a lottery ticket and a story of how to make your own luck. Nic Stone promises a narrative of class divides with a hard-hitting story. Micky will be reviewing this later in the week.

How do you mend a broken heart? IN THE TIME WE LOST by Carrie Hope Fletcher tells the story of Luna who decides a remote Scottish Island is the answer to this problem. This definitely makes Micky want to read it!

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – OCTOBER 8, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

Today’s big release, of course, is NINTH HOUSE by Leigh Bardugo. The hype has been the realest for this title and now it’s finally here! Hollis’ review is already up. Find it here.

Another big one for today is THE BEAUTIFUL by Renée Ahdieh. She’s trying to bring vampires back and we can’t wait to figure out if she succeeds for you. Of course, she’s not the only one with a vampire book on the release schedule but that’s another story. We’ll have a double review up tomorrow so keep an eye out for that.

THE GRACE YEAR by Kim Liggett is, “a speculative thriller in the vein of The Handmaid’s Tale and The Power.” Micky and Hollis are both reviewing this, so stay tuned. And speaking of tuned, this title has already been optioned for film! How exciting.

INTO THE CROOKED PLACE by Alexandra Christo is yet another release that we’ll both be reviewing this week. We swear we didn’t plan this. This is the start of a gritty YA duology that is getting comped to SIX OF CROWS.

THE GIVER OF STARS by JoJo Moyes is our final offering and a bit of switch in genre too. It’s set in America’s past and follows the protagonist’s life as a Horseback Librarian of Kentucky with danger, justice and passion on the menu. This actually released on the 6th, so it’s already out.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – OCTOBER 1, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

I never expected to see more of the Legend universe but here we are! Today REBEL, Marie Lu’s expansion to her first series, is out. My understanding is this takes place ten years after the end of the original final book and man am I feeling nostalgic for this world all of a sudden. Can’t wait to read this one!

CRIER’S WAR by Nina Varela is a f/f fantasy debut about the forbidden love between a human and a robot. This is an #ownvoices title, book one in a duology, and I’m so excited for it.

WAR OF HEARTS by S Young is a turn back to paranormal romance for Samantha Young of contemporary romance fame. This is a world of immortal beings with shifters, vampires and fae. The romance is strong in this one and look out for Micky’s review.

THE END AND OTHER BEGINNINGS by Veronica Roth is a collection of six short stories, all with a futuristic feel. There are two stories from the Carve the Mark world, but it is possible to read the them all without prior knowledge. Micky has a review coming for this collection.

THE GOOD LUCK GIRLS by Charlotte Nicole Davis gets a double review from us so keep an eye out for that later this week! This debut has a fresh feel, slicing dystopia with an old time world, almost like a western.

NOW ENTERING ADDAMSVILLE by Francesca Zappia is not only a new release by the author of ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS, one of my favourite contemporaries, but is also being pitched as, “Stranger Things meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Obviously here for itttttt.

TEN BLIND DATES by Ashley Elston sounds like the most adorable holiday YA romance. After breaking up with her boyfriend, Sophie will be set up on ten different blind dates by different family members. I expect much cuteness AND hilarity.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 24, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

Probably my (Hollis‘) most anticipated of this month is WAYWARD SON by Rainbow Rowell and it’s finally heeeeere. At least in the US (sorry). I can’t wait for this continuation of Simon and Baz’s adventures, this time in America, post-Chosen One role.

BID MY SOUL FAREWELL is the second, and final, book in Beth Revis’ necromancer duology. With a summary like, “Nedra Brysstain has made a life-changing decision to embrace the darkness–but can the boy who loves her bring her back to the light before she pays the ultimate price?” you know I (Hollis) am interested!

THE TENTH GIRL by Sara Faring has an eye-catching cover and total gothic feels. It’s a psychological thriller simmering in Patagonian myth with a ‘haunting’ twist. Look out for Hollis’ review for this one later this week.

SLAY by Brittney Morris is a YA contemporary about game culture and race and it sounds amazing and, of course, forever timely. What hooked me (Hollis) in particular was this line : “[the MC] must harness what it means to be unapologetically Black in a world intimidated by Blackness.” Look for Hollis’ review to come!

Any Stage Dive fans in the house? I hear you and so did Kylie Scott because she has a delicious little novella releasing this week called CLOSER. This is a beautifully packaged story in a bodyguard context, following on the previous novella (which you don’t have to read). Get read for a quick, wonderful story with plenty of familiar characters.

ARCTIC HEAT by Annabeth Albert has me wanting to break my ban on starting any new series and even though this is book three, it standsalone. This is a m/m romance where the characters are snowbound, one a ranger, one a banker. Sign me up.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 17, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

It released yesterday but shout-out to BEARD WITH ME, book six, in Penny Reid’s The Winston Brothers series. This is the prequel that all the Billy and Claire shippers have been waiting for. Reid has warned us this isn’t going to be pretty.. can’t wait. Look out for a double review on this one.

If you’re in the mood for a fascinating sounding dystopian/post-apocalytpic read then AFTER THE FLOOD is worth your time. A stunning UK cover and a blurb that just makes you want to read with half an eye on the world right now. It’ll be a challenging read in a climate change world but we’re excited about it. Micky has a review coming up for this one.

FAKE DATE has a cute cover to go with that cute sounding blurb. It’s a fake dating scenario (obviously) but the set up really has me wanting to read. I love a good pretend relationship situation and as long as you’re okay with a billionaire, this books sounds golden.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 10, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

As per the pitch, Tamsyn Muir’s GIDEON THE NINTH ‘unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers’. If you can’t tell, I (Hollis) really don’t care which pitch or blurb I use, I’m just so so excited about this book, and want you to be, too!

Laura Weymouth’s sophomore novel, A TREASON OF THORNS, is alt-historical-fiction fantasy about a girl who is in exile after her father commits treason. It’s about living Houses and grief. And many more subjects — some potentially triggering. The author has listed content warnings on the GR page and refers to her website for more information. I (Hollis) read her first book, which was almost painfully depressing and simultaneously lovely, and I’m keen to see how I fare with this one.

THE TESTAMENTS by Margaret Atwood is one of the most loudly shouted about releases this year. A sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale is the book most fans never expected. The story is set fifteen years after the first book and promises to answer all the questions we’ve ever had about Gilead.

FRANKLY IN LOVE by David Yoon has such an interesting cover and knowing that surname as YA lovers do, we’re all intrigued about this one. This is a YA contemporary about young love and diversity. Frank Li is a US-Korean teen in love with a white girl and his parents will not approve. It sounds humourous, fun with some serious topics.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 3, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

BRINGING DOWN THE DUKE by Evie Dunmore is a fantastic debut addition to the historical romance genre. This is the first in a series in which a fiercely independent vicar’s daughter takes on a powerful duke in a love story that threatens to upend the British social order. Hollis AND Micky loved this! Look for their reviews tomorrow.

THE HARP OF KINGS is the newest offering from Juliet Marillier. This new series opener features bards and warriors and even has a few throwaway references to her last series, Blackthorn and Grim — but this can totally stand on it’s own. If you love historical fiction with fantasy leanings, specifically fae, you should definitely check this out. And then go back and read all the Sevenwaters books..

DARKDAWN, the final book in the Nevernight Chronicle trilogy, by Jay Kristoff, is off to stab stab stab its way into your heart. Possibly literally. Look for Hollis’ review later today!

THE GIRL THE SEA CAME BACK by Adrienne Young is the companion to SKY IN THE DEEP. I would definitely recommend this viking YA fantasy, particularly to those who didn’t love the first book (like me), because it was everything that was good about book one but.. better and more.

THERE WILL COME A DARKNESS by Katy Rose Pool is a mashup of GRACELING and a more mature Falling Kingdoms while also being a great twisty, epic, dark fantasy. Hollis really enjoyed this and can’t wait for more.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – AUGUST 27, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

SAPPHIRE FLAMES by Ilona Andrews is the first full-length installment from Catalina’s POV as the new headliner of the Hidden Legacy series. I love this her take, I love her powers, I love that more books are still to come. Look for Hollis’ review later today!

ALL THE BAD APPLES by Moïra Fowley-Doyle is the latest standalone from this author whose style is whimsical and magical and twisty and feminist. This particular story focuses on women, family, and is set around the very real and timely subject of reproductive rights.

HOW TO LOVE A DUKE IN TEN DAYS by Kerrigan Byrne is the first in a brand new series called Devil You Know. While we’re all familiar, and fond, of Byrne’s antiheroes, she does mix it up a little with this one. It’ll still feel familiar, and it’s definitely fun, and hella swoony.

NEW RELEASE TUESDAY – AUGUST 20, 2019

Happy “where’d all my money go?” new release Tuesday, everyone!
As you know, the most exciting day of the week in this community is the day that follows the one we all dread (Mondays for the nope) and today we’re going to highlight some of the new books chipping away at our bank accounts — but each one is so worth it.

THE LAST WIDOW is the ninth installment in the Will Trent series. If you’re already a fan of these books, or this author, the less you know the better. But considering the end of book eight in this series? I. Can’t. Wait.

TURNING DARKNESS INTO LIGHT is a standalone fantasy by Marie Brennan set in an existing world explored in a series by this author. It’s a suspenseful fantasy with dragons, other civilisations and sounds like an Indiana Jones-esque historical fantasy. Micky’s review will be up later.
